I met Bill through his protesting Nationwide Insurance efforts.  The next spring we looked into the backyard and noticed the water appeared drained from our inground swimming pool.  Upon examination, there were holes in the liner and cover.  The pool was empty.  When we removed the cover, we were astonished to find multiple serrated holes in the pool lining.  We reported our loss to our agent and were denied coverage based on "The Animal Exclusion".  A few weeks went by and I happened to see Bill protesting and stopped by.  Bill asked if we had an All Risk Homeowners Policy and that should cover the pool liner, cover and loss of water damage.  We called the Herlihy Nationwide Insurance Agency and again they insisted there was no coverage.  By now, we had an estimate to repair $ 5,500.00 and loosing summer fun.  Bill thought to call the State of Connecticut Department of Insurance and that put us in touch with an examiner.  Shortly there after we had our payment for loss.  My wife and I had been paying insurance for 35 years and knew little about policy language and coverage.  And the owner of the Herlihy Nationwide Insurance Agency is Thomas Herlihy, the State of Connecticut Senator from Simsbury.  Is it no wonder that Insurance in our state is a mess and our elected officials have conflicts of interest to straighten it out?
